Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
by Raegan on Monday, February 25th, 2019
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve last game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While betting on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
