Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt..
