Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Raegan on December 11th, 2015

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve last poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While participating in online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
