Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player.
